Past Works

Collegiate Works

The below projects were created as part of my coursework while pursuing a professional writing degree at ODU, or while studying in community college before then. My skills as a writer and designer have since far surpassed what the were when I made these, but I preserve them here as evidence of my growth nonetheless.

Snowpiercer Gif Essay

An unofficial review I wrote for the movie Snowpiercer as part of a class project years ago. It takes the format of a gif essay. To this day the film holds a special place in my heart.

Burnout and Eldercare Essay

This Op/Ed piece originally served as an entry for a scholarship opportunity and was actually the first (and only) piece of content ever published to this site, back when it was still a personal blog. It revolves around the topic of something that strikes close to home for me; Burnout and staff shortages in the assisted/independent senior living industry, which I worked in for three years.

Business Letter

A mock business letter I created as part of an interdisciplinary studies class. It advocates against the business created for the scenario switching from non-profit to private status and offers solutions to the financial and organizational issues serving as the root motivation of the proposed switch.

Data Privacy Report

A research report exploring the issue of modern data privacy and data breaches. Having been involved in too many breaches to remember at this point, I felt it only natural to use this class project to explore how and why they happen, and how companies could do more to protect their clients.

Digital Notetaking Trend Story

This trend story focuses on the rise of digital notepads and notetaking, as well as the importance of their continued development in helping to reduce paper waste. As the planet continues to slowly burn, any innovations which can help cut down on common sources of pollution and waste are welcome. It was composed as a project for a Feature Story Writing course in the Fall of 2020.

Psychological Model Application Report

This is a research project aimed at incorporating the principles of an industrial-organizational psychology model with real work experience. In it, I examine the Input-Output model of teamwork and use it to analyze my own experiences working in the kitchen of an assisted-living facility.

Primary Research Report

A research paper advocating for the use of games as learning tools in college-level English courses. This project utilized both primary and secondary research and analysis in order to create a coherent policy proposal. Primary research data was gathered via a simple survey created with SurveyMonkey.

Alkaline Food Poster

A poster created as mock advertisement for a popular ramen restaurant* in Norfolk, Virginia, solely using information and graphical elements already published on their website.

*Note: Alkaline Ramen had no direct involvement in the creation process.

Anti-Smoking Pamphlet

This is a pamphlet designed for a mock anti-smoking advocacy campaign. It served as the final project for an advanced composition course and was completed in less than 2 hours.

NHTSA Infographic

An infographic I created for a class scenario requiring students to take on the role of a senior manager of NHTSA scientists. The assignment called for the critique or pre-existing infographics provided by the scientists and then develop a series of design guidelines to address the common issues.

Resume Infographic

A (very much outdated) infographic I created for my resume circa 2018-2019. Mostly done for practice and to gain familiarity with online infographic creation tools.
